The Curse - Chapter Five

Kristen is doomed to be Kathrine's prisoner forever.......
or to try and escape.

When Kristen isn't doing something that Kathrine demands, she gets punished by being locked up in her room. The only thing Kristen has to keep her sane is the stuffed dog that she shares her thoughts with.

Each day Kathrine makes Kristen eat alone and gives her very little to eat. Kathrine speaks only to Kristen when she wants her to do something or to yell at her.

Every day Kathrine makes Kristen clean everything from the floors to the dishes.

One day, right before Kathrine heads out to gather some things, she calls for Kristen to come to her. "I'm going out, I need you to finish what is on your list to do, and you are not to leave this house. Remember what I told you."

Kathrine normally would lock Kristen in her room when she would leave. However, she figured since Kristen had been listening to her and had not run off, she would be alright to leave to finish her chores. Kathrine didn't think Kristen would attempt to run away. Kathrine also knows she would never find her way back home being so far away. So she heads out.

As soon as Kristen thinks she's in the clear, she runs as fast as she can in the opposite direction to try and find anyone that might help her! She didn't realize she was so far away and in the middle of a swamp.

When Kathrine returns, she realizes that Kristen has runoff. This infuriates her, and she decides she's going to teach Kristen a lesson when she finds her.

Upstairs in Kathrine's bedroom, she goes and gets her book of magic. She looks up the spell she will need to cast on Kristen.

Kathrine gathers what is needed for the spell and then mixes it together. I will teach her not to make me mad. She will never run off again.

After Kathrine finishes the spell, she finds Kristen and brings her back. Kathrine begins to yell at Kristen. "I told you if you ran away that you would regret it!" Kristen stands in fear of what Kathrine's going to do to her. "For disobeying me, I will curse you, but let your parents live for now,"  she informs Kristen. She opens her bag and throws a powder onto Kristen. "Runaway again, and your parents will die! Now go to your room!" she commands.

They both head downstairs to the basement, where Kathrine locks Kristen in her room. As soon as Kristen reached the bottom of the steps, she already started to feel sick.

Before Kristen knew it, she was passed out on the floor.

Little Kristen laid on the floor for two days, unconscious.

When she finally came to, she felt so different. She noticed her eyes were a different color. They looked a bit red to her but figured it was because she had been asleep and sick. But there was also something else she just couldn't figure out what it was.

Upstairs, Kathrine heard Kristen's movement below her.
Kathrine unlocks the door and yells for her to come outside.

"Well, I see you're awake now. I told you if you ran away that I would curse you, and so I have. You will be sensitive to light, and if you stay out in it too long, it will burn your skin. Your eyes will be red as fire, and when you turn into an adult, you will grow fangs, and you will never grow old. You will have to survive on blood. This will make you a monster like me, and everyone will fear you! And everyone that you love will die, and you will watch them!

Standing alone, Kristen is horrified at what Kathrine has just told her. I will never be able to go back now. I'm a monster! What have I done? Kristen just sobs.

Downstairs she picks up her puppy and cuddles him.
"I will have you to love. I can never go back to my family and friends. I must stay here and live out the rest of my life."

While cleaning one day, she comes across the book of magic.
I wonder if I can find a spell to free me of this curse! My mommy did teach me to read some when I was younger. Maybe I can find something.

So Kristen tries to read and find the spell to cure herself. But as she starts to read the book, it makes no sense. I will never be able to find the right spell. If she catches me, I'll be doomed for sure.

Stricken with sorrow and fear, Kristen realizes that she has no way out. She must do exactly what Kathrine tells her and hope that someday, someone will come and find her.

Kristen's Nightmare - Chapter Four

Kristen awakens into a nightmare. She finds herself dirty, cold, and alone in a strange place. She has no idea how she got there and who has taken her. Kristen becomes very frightened when she can't find any of her guards, ladies, or parents. There was no one there to protect her.

All alone, Kristen looks around to try to figure out where she is. Kristen wonders if she's dreaming or if she truly is awake and in a real-life nightmare.

As Kristen starts to panic, this strange lady comes into the room. The very sight of her scares Kristen.

Kristen doesn't know it, but this lady was once beautiful, full of life, a young girl with big dreams. But now she's turned into a monster and looks nothing like she once did. She is now full of anger, hatred, and set on getting revenge.

A scared Kristen runs outside to find that nothing looks familiar, and the lady followed right behind her.

Frozen with fear, Kristen stops running and faces the scary woman.
"You are here because of your father. Your father did this to me, and now he will have to pay for what he has done! He will feel what I have felt for so many years," the woman says to Kristen.

Kristen shakes her head and doesn't understand what the lady is talking about. All Kristen cares about is seeing her mommy and daddy again and says so to the mysterious woman.
"You will never see your parents again. You are now mine to do with as I please. Your father tossed me away like I was nothing! He banished me here and denied me, love, and children! So now I have the one thing he wants in life, and that is you."

And with a cold stare, she tells Kristen, "If you run away, I will find you, and you will regret it. You will never find your way home, I will find you before you make it there."

Kathrine studied black magic, she learned it from a book she came across many years ago. One day when she was making a potion, it blew up on her and transformed her. Her skin turned green, her hair black, and she no longer looked like the pretty young girl she once had been. It devastated her, but she was determined to get back at Edward in the most painful way she could.

"I can turn you into a creature so awful that your parents would never recognize you. So by all means, try and run away. Let's see how far you can make it. I will kill your parents, and you will have a terrible curse set upon you for the rest of your life!"

Kathrine walks away, leaving Kristen shocked and stunned.
All Kristen could do was sob.

She was locked in a room that had an iron bed, wood table, one candle for some light, and a dirty stuffed dog.

Kristen sobbed for hours. She had no idea what Kathrine was going to do to her.

Every day Kathrine made Kristen do a lot of chores. She did everything that involved work.

As Kristen cleans, Kathrine prepares dinner for the two of them.
It was nothing like what Kristen was use to eating, but she was so hungry she would have eaten anything.

Hungry and scared, she swallowed her food whole so she could go to bed fast and get away from Kathrine. Kristen was so scared of Kathrine that just the sight of her made her almost cry.

Before she was allowed to go to sleep, Kristen had to clean up the dishes and the kitchen before she could go to bed.

Finally alone, locked in her room, Kristen cried for her mommy and daddy to come and save her.

Halfway through the night, Kristen finally fell asleep from exhaustion.

Startled out of her sleep, Kristen is awakened by Kathrine when she unlocks the door and hollers for her to come to the kitchen.

As she gets out of bed, Kristen makes her bed in hopes that Kathrine would find no reason to yell at her.

Little Kristen wipes a tear from her eye as she heads to the kitchen.
I miss my parents so bad. What did I do to deserve this?  If I leave, she will kill my parents. Do they even know if I'm still alive or where I am? I hope they come and find me.

I have the last laugh now, Edward! You will endure life alone and in pain as I have done for years! I will make Kristen my slave, and you will never see her again!

A Kingdom Torn Apart - Chapter Three

While everyone slumbered through the night, Kristen disappears out of her room without a trace, despite having guards at her door. The king receives the news early that same morning from one of the queen's ladies. Who would have done this awful deed, and why?

"My Lord, we went into Kristen's room to get her ready for the day, and she wasn't there! We can't find her anywhere! We have everyone looking through the kingdom for her!"

"I don't know how to tell you, my love. Kristen is missing, and no one can find her. We are looking everywhere for her! We will find her... don't worry!"  Edward tells Anne and tries to comfort her.

Everyone searches the kingdom, including Edward. He puts the word out in the other kingdoms and offers a big reward for her safe return.

Edward talks to all his close friends to see if anyone has seen her, only to come up with no answers. It was like she just vanished into thin air.

Every day, Edward pleaded for her safe return.

The tension grew as each day went by without her safe return.
The queen and king even began to blame each other.

They couldn't even have a decent conversation with each other.
Anne blamed him for not putting the right guards at her door.
Edward blamed her for not having the right ladies to attend to and watch her.

Anne began to sleep in her own bed chambers without the king.

Edward did the same.

Edward was empty without his daughter. It was eating him alive inside.

Sometimes in the middle of the night, some could hear him cry.

One day the king blew up again at the queen, she was devastated.
She'd lost her daughter and now the love of the king. She knew he was hurting, but he continually put the blame on her.

The agony and sadness were too much for the queen, and she fell ill. Shortly after that, she passed away.

"Did you hear they found the queen dead in the bathroom?"

Edward was torn apart. He even thought he saw Anne when he would visit her grave at night.

"I had the world. I had a beautiful wife and daughter. They were the world to me, and now I have nothing. What happened?"
